The plot has thickened in the ongoing saga of Ben and Jen breakup part 3 (on account of the fact that there are two Jens and well one Ben, you get the point). In the midst of the global humiliation Ben has put Jlo through, she still managed to weather the storm in true Jlo fashion over the last few weeks by taking selfies of her backside, posing in a fedora in the Hamptons, and my personal favorite, posting a father’s day tribute to Ben.

That Ben pic seemed to be a movie still from Pearl Harbor, I don’t think that movie could get any worse btw. This post was a bit of a change from last year where she was extra suck up-y even for her and proclaimed him to be the greatest father of all time or something like that. This time she was a bit more low key with a simple heart emoji along with the words “Our Hero” (someone needs to tell her he didn’t actually fight in WW2).

She soldiered on and more recently wore a charm bracelet with the letter “B” etched on it. For someone whose husband is openly rejecting her, this is some serious pride swallowing / last ditch effort / Tammy Wynette stand by your man type stuff.

The irony is that the more she publicly professes her love for him, the more she seems to be pushing him away. Didn’t anyone tell her about the “Rules” or “He’s just not that into you”. Basically JLo never got the memo about the fundamental laws of romance; don’t be the chaser, be the chasee. Getting her man’s initials manicured on her nails and embossed on pieces of jewelry is somewhat cute…when you are thirteen, not middle aged.

While I may mock, I am actually in deep mourning as I was truly rooting for them. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to figure out what went wrong, and my analysis can be summarized thusly:

As of February 2024, they were at her musical/documentary premiere still looking loved up. By March 2024 there were only a couple pics of them and they didn’t look so loved up anymore. What on earth could have happened in a matter of a few weeks after riding the love train for a few years? Public backlash that’s what!

Yes we know Ben was uncomfortable in that documentary with Jlo telling everyone about their private love letters. But obviously he knew this was going into the documentary in advance and seemed to be fine with it as of the premiere date.

Ben also knew about the cringey song tributes to him in the album. Once I saw that list of songs, I was suffering from second hand embarrassment with song names like “Dear Ben part 2” and “Midnight trip to Vegas.” TMI Jlo.

However, none of that seemed to bother him when the public was loving it. But then the public turned on them and ridiculed the movies and their relationship. It was Gigli all over again. The relationship seemed to crumble in a matter of weeks after that. And Jlo knew all this could happen and yet proceeded down the same path again, flaunting her tall white dude and telling the world all about how wonderful she had it with him. And the world tore her down and he bolted like it’s 2003. Jlo when will you ever learn; my heart is broken for you all over again. May you find your all American dream boat one day and hopefully when he signs his messages with “not going anywhere”, he actually means it this time. RIP Bennifer part 3.
